Why Volunteer with Stone Soup?

For over 50 years, Stone Soup has been nurturing young creative talent. Our volunteers are essential to our mission of publishing and celebrating the work of children ages 8-13.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

📖 Reading Committee Member

Commitment: 2-4 hours per week
Role: Review submissions from young writers and provide thoughtful feedback
Requirements: Love of literature, experience working with or around children, reliable internet access
Benefits: Be among the first to discover emerging young talent

🎨 Art Review Volunteer

Commitment: 2-3 hours per week
Role: Evaluate artwork submissions and help select pieces for publication
Requirements: Background in visual arts or art education preferred
Benefits: Help young artists gain recognition for their creative work

📱 Social Media Ambassador

Commitment: 3-5 hours per week
Role: Help promote Stone Soup content and engage with our community online
Requirements: Social media savvy, excellent writing skills, familiarity with Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter
Benefits: Gain marketing experience while supporting young creatives

✏️ Workshop Facilitator

Commitment: Varies by workshop schedule
Role: Lead virtual writing or art workshops for young participants
Requirements: Teaching or mentoring experience, expertise in writing or visual arts
Benefits: Directly inspire and guide the next generation of creative minds
